Andy Stones wins Sword of Achievement award at Sudbrook Moor Golf Club

If ever there was a final scorecard to guarantee a title, Sudbrook Moor's Andy Stones provided just that.

Rising in the autumn to the top of the Order of Merit with a couple of events remaining, there were two Andy's battling it out on the final strokeplay day, Andy Stones and Andy Dunderdale.

Stones returned the best score of 42 points in the November stableford, played from white tees.

No one could better Stones' final tally, ensuring that the title and championship were his.

The Sword of Achievement, an accumulative best six scores in a running scoreboard of designated monthly strokeplay, is a much sought after major and is open to and includes members of all ages and handicaps.

From the final Order of Merit there are numerous interesting statistics, showing that from more than 100 participants, there are, over the 12 month series, mini triumphs for many along the way.

The top ten final leaderboard was Andy Stones 125, Andy Dunderdale 117, John McLaren 100, Nigel Corby 87, Pedro Morais 96, Geoff Back 95, Liam Cornes 95, Michelle Gayton 93, Paul McCarthy 92 and Tony Bell 91.
