Grantham Town Under 16s beat Paget Rangers in the Junior Premier League

Grantham Town Under 16s produced a strong showing in their four-goal away victory at Paget Rangers in the Junior Premier League.

The Gingerbreads reverted back to a 3-5-2 formation with three players returning from illness or injuries.

The opening two quarters saw striker Price gifted with chances as the young Gingerbreads played in Rangers' final quarter for what seemed like the entire first half.

Grantham dominated in the press and possession and two goals from Lewis, set up by Redgate and Wilkerson, were followed by one from Price which was created by Lewis.

It made the score 3-0 at half-time but it could easily have been six.

Grantham moved players about in the second half and decided to drop a bit deeper to invite pressure and counter.

With Wilkerson on the wing, his pace caused all sorts of issues for Rangers.

Grantham controlled midfield through initially Guest, Lewis and Kane, with Redgate coming back from injury taking over from Guest who was still struggling with a chesty cough.

The players did their jobs very well and another dozen good chances were stopped on the goalline or by the Paget keeper who was in fine form.

Grantham's fourth goal arrived very much after a long passage of possession.

Keeley pushed out the ball to Poole who immediately found Gray in the channel. After a one two with Kane, Price squared for Lewis to get his hat-trick.

Importantly, Grantham also kept a clean sheet with Rangers only recording one clear chance which was from long range and easily saved by the ever-reliable Greenslade.
