United Counties League Premier Division North side Sleaford Town support Stonewall and stand in solitary with members of the LGTBQ+ community with the rainbow laces campaign

A football team has shown its solitary with members of the LGTBQ+ community.

They planned to don rainbow coloured laces last weekend.

Unfortunately, Sleaford Town who play in the United Counties League Premier Division North were unable to wear the laces against Kimberley Miners Welfare due to poor weather leading to the cancellation of the match.

A stunning match-day programme had been produced for the event.

The Greens are taking part in Stonewall's campaign to promote inclusion in football.

"This campaign is so important," said Sleaford Town chairman Dean Williams.

"Fostering and nurturing an environment where everybody feels welcome, supported, valued, and heard throughout our wonderful community is of paramount importance to us.

"We want everybody to feel that they can be their authentic and true selves at our club."

The sentiment was echoed elsewhere in the club.
