Members of the Belvoir Tri Club take part in the Outlaw Triathlon
Three athletes from Belvoir Tri Club produced a terrific team effort at the Outlaw Triathlon.
They had to overcome a series of setbacks including dealing with illness, injury and, for one of the team, disappointment towards the end of the journey.
The swim section of the triathlon was cancelled due to blue algae in the water to disappoint the athletes after after several months of training.
It was swopped for a 5k run which Steve Rodgers absolutely smashed in a time of 25:09.
After a swift acknowledgment in transition, Kate Dewar then took on the 112m bike course.
Pure grit and determination after a knee injury allowed Dewar to whizz around the course in a time of 06:25:50.
The final leg, the 26.2 mile run, saw Claire Campbell's sweat, tears and resilience get her around the marathon distance in hot sunny conditions for a final finishing time of 11:30:17.
The event also offered one, two, three and five kilometre swim distances across the heart of the lake.
Club member Mick Oliver swam from the North to the South shore and back.
Experiencing the full-size scale of the water, Mick finished in 30:23 which placed him second overall and only 18 seconds behind first place.
The 5km course, allowed swimmers to adventure further across the reservoir to the water tower, the dam, the south and then the north shore.
Mark Fear took on this epic swim, finishing in 01.33, placing him 13th male overall and fourth in his age group.
