Ross Warden of Grantham Running Club takes part in the Kew The Run event at the Royal Botanic Gardens
Ross Warden's race almost went entirely to plan as he took part in the Kew The Run event at the Royal Botanic Gardens.
Having placed himself in front of his target time pacer, there was only a small fuelling error around the halfway point for the Grantham Running Club member.
Being a flat course, Warden finished with a time of 01:42:04 (319th out of 2316 finishers) to knock four minutes and 38 seconds off his personal best.
The half-marathon race usually sees runners complete a lap of the gardens before heading down the Thames path to Richmond and then back.
However, due to issues on the Thames path this year, the course was changed so that it was run completely in the gardens.
This meant that some sections of the course were repeated to make the distance up.
Other than an early start, the weather was very favourable for the race and it was bright without being overly warm.
First male over the line was Ollie Garrod of Belgrave Harriers in 01:10:27.
Lisa Bailey from the Stragglers Running Club was the first female over the line in 01:20:11.
