Holbeach United Community Sports Academy raises £1,500 at Neon Ball
A neon-themed ball featuring brightly dressed guests and radiant decorations has raised a gleaming £1,500 for a sports academy.
Holbeach United Community Sports Academy, based at Penny Hill, held an end of season event at Holbeach Community Centre with some 160 guests attending.
The academy is a football facility for youngsters from the age of seven to 17 who can then go on to play for Holbeach United and other big teams.
Mandy Baxter, fundraising team member, said: “Everyone had a fantastic night.
“Holbeach is a big footballing town and we are so lucky to have this facility.
“It is so much more than a football club - it is a saviour for the kids a lot of the time.”
The funds raised will go towards the academy for which Rob Bell has been chairman for the last three years.
Mandy, who runs Boxes Of Hope in Holbeach, said: “I have been on the fundraising team in the last few years.
“I am very passionate about the commitment and hard work that has gone on.
“I wish the new people all the success as they come in.”
Many businesses in the area donated prizes for the raffle which helped towards the total amount raised for the facility.
Mandy, who along with Tanya Beresford helps with fundraising, added: “It is a big thing.
“People come from far and wide.
“The ball was for all the managers, friends and family.”
Tanya added: “We are so grateful to everyone who supported the charity ball.
“From guests and sponsors to those who donated prizes.
“It is a fantastic way to celebrate the people who help our club thrive and raise vital funds for our future."
