Police stop more than 70 vehicles as part of drink drive initiative at Holbeach




More than 70 vehicles were stopped as part of a police drink-drive campaign this week.

Lincolnshire Police Specialist Operations and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency carried out checks on the A17 at Holbeach on Tuesday (December 17).

However, the number majority of drivers were not over the drink-drive limit.

“Over 70 vehicles stopped, most of which provided negative breath tests having committed various offences,” a police statement read.

Insp Matt Dickinson said the Roads Policing team had a successful day of education and enforcement.

He said: ”I want to thank them for supporting my team in doing this in South Holland. We will continue to pursue those who use the districts roads unlawfully and take robust action where ever possible.

“We will be planning enforcement next year with officers from the local team identifying hotspot areas and tackling those fatal 5 offences. We cannot be everywhere but my message to those using the roads and committing offences is that we could be anywhere.”
