Lincolnshire Police appeals for information and CCTV footage for ongoing nails in road investigation in Whaplode
Villagers say they are ‘being left in the dark’ over a police investigation into nails being deliberately scattered across a road.
People living in Hagbeach Gate and Crowdyke Gate in Whaplode have been reporting since last August an issue with nails and screws being left on the road.
Two residents are now heading out ‘at all hours’ to look for the screws and others are reported to be carrying magnets in their cars after damaged tyres.
Lincolnshire Police says it is continuing to investigate the issue - with currently one person released on bail.
A resident, who does not wish to be named, said: “Two residents are out at all hours collecting the screws.
“No one is letting us know what's going on.
“We are being left in the dark.”
Police confirmed a 41-year-old woman was arrested on July 2 this year on suspicion of causing danger to road users and a charging decision is pending from the Crown Prosecution Service as the authorities weigh up what course of action to take.
A police spokesperson said: “We would appeal for anyone who has information or has been affected by nails being placed on the ground to contact us.
“Information or any relevant CCTV footage would be helpful.”
