David's story highlights the crucial role of Lives emergency response in Lincolnshire

A patient who found himself in the throes of a seizure, leaving him in dire need of assistance, has been able to meet the Lives first responder who helped save his life.

The charity has released a video in which David White relives his experience at Hatton Compressor Station near Horncastle after falling ill in front of his brother, Tony.

Recalling the harrowing moment, Tony described how he noticed his brother's distress while working nearby.

"I looked over and he looked a bit strange," Tony said. "I said, ‘are you OK?’ and he said, ‘I feel a bit dizzy’.

“He had a bit of a funny colour and sounded strange, so I walked over to him and as I got within a couple of feet, he started to have a seizure," Tony recounted.

Moments like these underscore the critical importance of quick thinking and immediate medical attention.

Lives paramedic Brett Forman, who has been with the organisation for two years, was called in and arrived within 10 minutes.

"On my arrival, I was met by security who guided me to the location.

“The male was unresponsive with first aid being carried out," he said.

With efficiency and precision, Brett administered crucial medical assistance, including oxygen, while coordinating with ambulance services to ensure David received the urgent care he needed.

Following the incident, David thanked Brett for his rapid response.

He said: "I can remember working on the shutters, I was cleaning them and taking them down. I bent down to clean them and as I got up I just felt all dizzy…. That was it."

His recovery, supported by Lives responders and his brother, serves as a testament to the value of community-based emergency medical services.
