8,000 people enjoy fireworks competition at Belvoir Castle
Spectacular displays of fireworks lit up the sky around Belvoir Castle and thrilled thousands of people watching from the grounds on Saturday evening.
The occasion was the eighth annual Belvoir Firework Championships.
Three teams did battle, facing off with individual 10-minute displays before organisers, MLE Pyrotechnics, went through their own stunning firework routine.
Mat Lawrence, a director at the company, said: “This was our eighth at Belvoir Castle and it gets more and more popular every year.
“This time we had around 8,000 watching it.
“They arrive early and having picnics before it gets dark and we can then set off the fireworks.
“The competition is decided by an audience text vote.
“It’s a great atmosphere and many people camp over night next to the castle.”
If you took photographs at the event go to www.facebook.com/fireworkchampions where there is a competition offering prizes for best ones.
MLE organises five competition nights every year.
Others are held at similar venues, Newby Hall, Stanford Hall, Capesthorne Hall and Eastnor Castle.
