SPALDING NOSTALGIA: Kindergarten visitor and Guides celebrations 25 years ago
There was no chance of a prickly reception for Snowy the Hedgehog at Ayscoughfee Hall School in Spalding 10 years ago.
Children in the Kindergarten class met rescue hedgehog Snowy as part of their spring term work on looking after animals.
Snowy was being cared for by Spalding’s Hedgehog Rescue after being found underweight during the wintry weather. The three- and four- year olds also did a collection for Hedgehog Rescue, raising around £30, plus old towels and cat food.
It was a bittersweet birthday celebration for Spalding 5th Guides 10 years ago – marking their 85th anniversary while paying tribute to Patience Baden-Powell, who had recently died.
The Monkshouse hut group had 25 members attending weekly and still maintained the historic concepts of guidning.
The birthday celebrations included a mark of respect for Patience, granddaughter-in-law of the Scout and Guide movement founder Robert Baden-Powell.
