Holbeach pub treasure hunt and Cowbit school Ofsted report 25 years ago
More than 100 people joined in a Holbeach pub treasure hunt to raise cash for a children’s charity 25 years ago. The annual event, organised by Holbeach firm Sedge Homes, raised £350 for the toddlers at the Acorn playgroup in Whaplode.
Pubs involved were the String of Horses, Crown Hotel, the Exchange, the Station and the Horse and Groom.

Hard working staff at Cowbit Endowed CE Primary School 25 years ago won praise from Ofsted inspectors, who said the quality of learning at the village school , which had 40 pupils and just two teachers, was particularly good.
Head Mary Haresign said the report proved that small schools were viable and could meet children’s needs as well as larger ones.
