Donington’s Thomas Cowley School make junk music and Fleet Wood Lane Primary School praised across South Holland in 1996
Youngsters at Donington’s Thomas Cowley School took on a pioneering project 25 years ago.
They grabbed an opportunity to make music at a junk band workshop held at their school, and was the first of a series of similar projects.
Deputy head teacher Keith Balich said: “The workshop was wonderful. It was lively, exciting and interesting.”
Design and technology work by pupils at Fleet Wood Lane Primary School was being praised across the county in 1996.
Projects from some of the youngsters were featured in The Times newspaper after they were displayed at a national conference.
The school’s head teacher Trevor Thompson said everyone was delighted that their work was being recognised.
He said: “The children are doing some startling work. We are a small rural primary school off the beaten track and it’s great this is happening.”
He and the youngsters were praised by chairman of the governors Coun Brian Paul.
