Bourne Abbey Primary Academy pupils swaps uniform for pyjamas on Children In Need Day
We just love a pyjama day at Bourne Abbey Primary Academy - the children voted for the second year running to dress in pyjamas to support Children in Need this year, and everyone wore their cosiest onesies and most comfy PJs to raise lots of money with their donations.
Out on the playground, we were excited to once again be able to put our huge Pudsey Bear pictures for people to cover them in small change – every penny counts for this fantastic charity.
In addition to the children dressing up, they also had the chance to make their teachers look incredible by ‘Dressing the Teacher’ in accessories.
Alongside the fun, we were reminded about the important work that Children in Need supports.
Coming just before World Children’s Day, it gave us the ideal opportunity to remind ourselves of the UNICEF articles that, supporting Children in Need, helps us to achieve.
In particular, these are article 6 which states that children have the right to develop to their full potential; article 15 which states that children have the right to join clubs and groups; article 19 which talks about children being protected from harm, and article 31 where children have the right to relax and play.
It is clear when we look at Children in Need projects that they have the rights of the child at heart too – something that is important to us as a rights-respecting school.
Head of School, Mr Bellamy, said: "Our children are passionate about championing others in their local, national and global community and their support for Children in Need shows this. We look forward to continuing to support fundraising events in the future."
Well done to everyone for taking part and thank-you to our parents and carers for their generous donations.
