Can anyone help alternative DJ David Fryatt from Lincoln?

A DJ who is struggling with the cost of living crisis has issued a plea for support so he can afford new equipment and continue contributing to an alternative nightlife scene.

After making one of his biggest purchases in recent years for new equipment, rock and alternative DJ David Fryatt, 54, said he's "caught between a rock and a hard place" after discovering it was faulty.

Lincoln-based Mr Fryatt, who has been DJing at a local venue in Lincoln for decades but preferred not to name it for professional reasons, recently purchased a new DJ controller for £450 to keep up with changes in refurbishment.

However, he was dismayed to find out there was a technical fault. When contacting the company that made the equipment, he claimed they could only fix it if he shipped it to them in Germany. He later discovered this would cost about £550.

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing cost of living crisis, David does not have the funds for this. As a result, he has turned to GoFundMe in an attempt to raise money for a replacement.

"It's the biggest purchase I've made in the last two years, it's galling. It's doubly galling knowing that I bought this to just give back to the community," he said.

On his fundraiser, he noted how he was struggling to afford rent at the moment, let alone new equipment. David later highlighted that his rent has shot up 33% in the past three years.

He added: "I am asking in the hope that other like-minded individuals will contribute towards a replacement so I can continue to support nights out for Lincoln’s alternative crowd.

"If anybody’s ever suggested they wanted to buy me a bottle of beer, please just send me a donation instead," he pleaded.
