Lincoln Castle to host nine gigs in concert series
Lincoln Castle is set to host nine concerts next summer - with organisers promising a diverse range of "world-class" artists across the series.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Glaswegian rockers Texas and Simple Minds will perform at the castle grounds in June 2025, but council officials have hinted that even more announcements are on the horizon.
The series of gigs is the result of an ongoing partnership between Lincolnshire County Council and promoters Cuffe and Taylor.
Earlier this year, the castle hosted six shows featuring well-renowned artists such as Paloma Faith, Kaiser Chiefs, Madness, Gregory Porter, Crowded House, and Jess Glynne.
Although she wasn't able to provide any clues as to who else could be performing at the iconic venue, Coun Lindsey Cawrey (Conservative), portfolio holder for fire & rescue and cultural services, promised there would be something for all ages following a meeting of the council's executive meeting on Tuesday (October 1) morning.
"As we go forward, we’ll be releasing more names, and we’re looking at a spread of acts. There will be acts for hopefully everyone in Lincolnshire and beyond."
Coun Cawrey also stressed the importance of being a "good neighbour" to nearby residents, adding: "We need to make sure that whatever we do, we don’t detrimentally affect people being able to enjoy their summer evenings."
When asked if these concerts could return in 2026 and beyond, the representative for Washingborough division explained that they will be reviewing the situation.
She continued: "It is an aspiration, but as a local authority, we have to see. We just have to make sure that what we do is sustainable, so we'll see.
"Next year, we're going to review how they have gone, and if it's gone well, hopefully it will give us a positive view on whether we do more."
Texas are due to perform at Lincoln Castle on Sunday, June 15, while Simple Minds are scheduled for Saturday, June 28.
Tickets will go on sale at 9am on October 4 via Ticketmaster and the Lincoln Castle website.
