Nearly 90% of secondary school applicants offered their first choice in Lincolnshire

Nearly 90% of Lincolnshire children have secured a place at their first-choice secondary school for 2025, according to county leaders.

Lincolnshire County Council figures showed that, of the 8,559 children applying, 87% (7,441) received an offer for their first preference, with further placements expected as reserve lists and appeals are processed.

In total, 96.5% of applicants received a place at one of their preferred schools, with 8.3% offered their second choice and 1.3% their third.

Around 3.5% were allocated a place at an alternative school nearby.

Coun Patricia Bradwell (Con), executive councillor for children’s services, said: “It is good to see so many families receiving offers at one of their preferred schools again.

“It is always our intention to support parents in making the application process as easy as possible, and it is nice to see an increasing number of parents using the online parent portal to make their application and receive their offer on national offer day.”

Those who used the online application system were notified by email on March 3, while others will receive their offers by post.

Full details of appeal processes and transport arrangements are available on the Lincolnshire County Council website.

Parents have until March 28, 2025, to appeal decisions.
