Lincolnshire Police launch investigation after man’s body found in Brayford Pool in Lincoln

A man’s body was found in the Brayford Pool in Lincoln in the early hours of this morning (Monday, May 6).

Lincolnshire Police received a report that a man was in the water near to the flyover bridge at 12.40am. Officers were immediately deployed and he was taken from the water with assistance from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He is described as white, in his 50s with very short grey/blonde hair, grey/blonde facial hair, and a slim build. He was wearing dark trousers and jumper, and black trainers.

A police spokesperson said: “We are keeping an open mind about the circumstances of his death, which is currently being treated as unexplained, and have now launched an investigation.”

Police remain on scene by the fly-over end of the Brayford Pool on the Waterside North side, and officers are also conducting enquiries on the other side of the marina and in the nearby area. They are expected to be in the area until at least the afternoon.

The police spokesperson added: “We are now asking for anyone with information about how he came to be in the water to come forward. If you were on a night out in the area last night (Sunday, May 5), into this morning, please check mobile phone footage and see if you may have captured anything with a man matching his description.

“We are keen to see any footage of him prior to going into the water, as well as anything which may have captured him entering the water.

“Any information, no matter how small or insignificant you think it might be will be helpful; please get in touch and let us decide if it’s relevant.”
