Metheringham man Andrew Rogerson to run Spires and Steeples challenge for the Osbourne Trust
The husband of a woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer is raising money for the charity that supported their children.
Andrew Rogerson, from Metheringham, will be tackling the Spires and Steeples Challenge, an annual event which sees people run or walk from Lincoln Cathedral to St Denys’ Church in Sleaford for a cause.
He hopes to raise some money for The Osbourne Trust, which helps children and young people whose parents have been diagnosed with cancer.
His wife is now celebrating her ten-year anniversary from the end of her treatment, so Andrew says he wants to “give back”.
“The Osborne Trust supported my family through our cancer journey.
“Our children are adults now, but they still have their Ozzy elephants from the trust.
“The fact that they have kept them fondly shows the depth of assistance that the trust offers families.”
At the time of his wife’s diagnosis, Andrew’s children were nine and 11, so he remembers how difficult it was to break the news to them.
He will be running the event on Saturday, May 24, and has set up a Just Giving page so people can donate and give their support.
“The challenge isn’t to be undertaken lightly – if it was easy, it wouldn’t attract fundraising – and that’s what it is about.
“Let’s help the Osborne Trust to keep supporting those that need it.”
