Thieves steal BMW X5 car from home of mother and business owner Kellie Wood on Minerva Way in North Hykeham
A mother has been left in “shock” after the car she worked “so hard for” was stolen from her home.
Kellie Wood stepped out of her house on Minerva Way in North Hykeham on Thursday morning on her way to work to find her white BMW X5 missing.
Thinking her husband Rick may have moved it, she peered down the road and the nearby areas, but still, nothing.
It was then she came to the stark realisation that her car had been stolen.
“I was in shock, I felt sick, it’s just horrible,” she said.
“It’s not nice to work so hard for something and then have someone do their shopping and take it away.”
Kellie, who runs taxi business Aurora Rides with Rick, phoned the police and an investigation has since been launched into the car’s disappearance, however, she has not been put at ease and says she feels panic.
“My seven-year-old is now scared as he knows there was a ‘bad man’ out there who took our car,” she added.
“To see them on CCTV, it was scary, I’ve got kids upstairs asleep.”
The mother said that she has only watched the video once as the thought makes her “sick”.
“I am absolutely disgusted with their behaviour and I don’t know who they think they are.
“Just have some respect and be a decent human being,” she added.
It is believed by both the couple and other residents that there has been an increase in car thefts in the Lincoln and Newark areas recently, with Kellie saying that another car the same as hers had gone missing just days before.
Kellie was told that the thieves used computers to hack her key fobs, which were inside her home, a method which has become increasingly common in recent years.
They also taped over her security camera.
“I never thought it would happen to me.”
She is now encouraging people to buy a signal-blocking bag for their keys to prevent car theft.
Despite the circumstances, the family say they are very grateful for the response they have received on social media.
“I absolutely appreciate everyone who has helped keep an eye out, I can’t thank them enough.”
