Lincoln Museum launches latest immersive exhibition ‘Games: Enter the Unknown’ where visitors can create characters and build worlds

A museum is inviting people to let fate choose as it prepares to open its latest immersive exhibition.

Lincoln Museum has announced its newest addition where enthusiasts and newcomers of all ages can play their way through the history of games.

‘Games: Enter the Unknown’ will explore links between ancient games in the museum’s collection, well-known board games and contemporary tabletop role-playing games with interactive activities that let people create their own characters, and build their own worlds.

Officially launching tomorrow (Saturday, July 20), players can see the collection until October 13.

Jenny Gleadell, exhibitions and interpretations officer, said: “After working hard behind the scenes to develop this latest exhibition, we’ve become immersed in gaming culture and the history of tabletop games going back at least 3,000 years.

“It’s so exciting to see all the different elements coming together as we put the final touches to this unique exhibition for Lincoln Museum.

“As part of the displays, we’ve commissioned two new artworks by Midlands-based contemporary artists, who have created pieces that celebrate games and their players.”

Running alongside the exhibition will be film screenings, a cardboard cosplay, two live gaming campaigns and bingo.
