Lincolnshire Police says there is ‘no identified threat’ to county schools, after ‘hoax’ email sent to neighbouring Cambridgeshire schools

A police force says there is ‘no identified threat’ to county schools, following an email circulated to schools in a neighbouring county.

A “threatening” email has been sent to a number of Cambridgeshire schools over the last few days, which Lincolnshire Police is aware of.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “We are aware of information being circulated that relates to a risk to schools, this information has been circulating nationally over the last few days.

“There is no specific identified threat to schools within our county.”

Cambridgeshire Police has also commented on the emails, stating it is “not the only county to receive the message” and “similar emails are being reported nationally over the past week”.

A spokesperson added: “At this time there is no specific identified threat to schools within our local county, however local schools have been advised to review their protocols and be vigilant.”

Lincolnshire County Council is also aware of the email.

Martin Smith, assistant director for children’s education at LCC, said: “We’ve been made aware of reports about threatening emails being sent to schools in other parts of the country.

“We’d like to reassure local parents that these are believed to be a hoax and have not been received by any Lincolnshire schools.

“All schools have procedures in place for dealing with emergencies, and we have reminded them that these should be reviewed and practised periodically.”
