Lincolnshire County Council to proceed with £115,000 resurfacing works on Riverhead Road in Louth next week
Night works to improve a town centre road are set to go ahead this month.
Lincolnshire County Council has announced a £115,000 project to resurface Riverhead Road in Louth from Thursday, January 9 until Monday, January 20 - which is said to have “reached the end of its lifecycle”.
To try to offset the impact to businesses in the area, a night time scheme has been launched, meaning work times on-site will be from Monday to Friday 10pm to 6am.
Coun Richard Davies, executive member for highways at LCC, said: “These resurfacing works are going to make a very big difference to the road in Louth and this scheme has brought up some challenges to overcome.”
Where possible, the council says it will lift traffic diversions at the end of each shift and will have marshals on-site to help keep control.
“This work needs to be carried out to prolong the life of the road and to make an improvement for road users in Louth, but we will be doing everything we can to lessen disruption,” Cllr Davies added.
The diversion route will be heading from Riverhead Road, west on C532 Eastgate, North on C569 Ramsgate and East on C568 Ramsgate Road.
From Victoria Road the route will be, west on C645 Keddington Road, South on C659 Newbridge, Ramsgate Road and East on C568 Ramsgate Road.
“This improvement is another part of our ongoing road uplift across the county and because of the nature of the work, we have to put a diversion route using like-for-like roads in place. This is for the safety of road users and the crew.
“We will do everything possible to get this work completed as quickly as possible and I would like to thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding whilst we get on with this improvement.”
