Rutland bus fares £1 for under 18s this summer

Under 18s can travel by bus for £1 this summer.

The offer will apply to journeys that start in Rutland between Saturday (July 20) and August 24, with return journey tickets available for £2.

Part of a promotion to encourage people onto public transport and reduce carbon emissions from private vehicles, the scheme has been set up with national funding secured by Rutland County Council.

Councillor Christine Wise (Lib Dem), portfolio holder for transport, environment and communities, said: “We hope this promotion will provide an opportunity during the summer for young people to meet up with friends and family, go shopping in Oakham and Uppingham, or enjoy a day-out to visit one of our many local attractions.”

Services available to under 18s for the discounted fares can be found at www.rutland.gov.uk/buses.

Questions about the summer bus promotion can also be sent by email to transport@rutland.gov.uk or those without internet access can call 01572 758138.
