One of Rutland’s biggest employers is investing more than £3.2m as it expands its Oakham site.

Mecc Alte UK will be using the money to build a state-of-the-art facility to support its growing alternator business and further the expansion of sister company, Cabel UK.

The site will include more than 33,000 square feet of prime manufacturing, warehousing and distribution space.

This new facility will enable Cabel UK to supply more parts and materials including AC and DC motors, generators, pumps and transformers.

Andrew Bell, managing director, Cabel UK and Mecc Alte UK, said: “We are very excited to announce these plans for a third site as part of our strategic vision and growth plan.

“It cements our commitment to expand our footprint in the local area.
“We want to attract fresh talent into the engineering sector and the new site will accommodate our expansion as a result of securing new service and maintenance contracts for Cabel UK along with increasing the design and manufacture for industrial machinery technology and the power generation sector.”

Work is already underway on the new site at Land’s End and will be completed in November.

Cabel UK was formed in 2009 with just two people working in the business.

It has since undergone significant growth year-on-year across the power generation field for repair, service and rewind work and has taken its workforce into double figures.
