The Lodge at Market Overton requires improvement according to the Care Quality Commission
Improvements are being made at a residential home for adults with learning disabilities following criticism from inspectors.
The management of The Lodge at Market Overton was called into question following a three-day inspection by the Care Quality Commission.
The home was found to offer caring, responsive and effective support for its 29 residents but some aspects of its leadership and safety measures fell short of what is required. This led to an overall CQC rating of requires improvement.
Provider Ramsey Pigott and manager Josiah Knight have already taken steps to address some of the issues raised. These included some staff not receiving mandatory training on autism, ineffective safeguarding systems, some people not having specific care plans in place and managers not identifying improvements which are required.
A statement issued by the home said: “The Lodge Trust acknowledges the revised rating of requires improvement. We are very disappointed with this and would like to express our sincere regret for any concerns this has caused, especially to our residents and their families.
“The Lodge has a long history of providing good quality compassionate and specialised care to adults with learning disabilities. In order to address the points raised in the report we have initiated a comprehensive action plan and will work tirelessly with all our stakeholders to make the required improvements.
“We would draw attention to the many positives in the report and particularly acknowledge the hard work and responsiveness of our whole staff team who are commended for caring with warmth, compassion and dignity.
“A number of improvements have already been made and over the coming weeks our goal is to restore and surpass the high standards The Lodge Trust is known for. We have full confidence in our whole staff team, and with their continued dedication and support from our stakeholders, we will achieve this.
“We very much appreciate the ongoing trust and support of our residents, their families, our staff, volunteers and wider community.”
