Oakham School pupils win top awards at Nottingham Young Musician of the Year competition





A singer and horn player impressed judges at a young musician of the year competition.

Oakham School pupils Evie Holder and Joshua Davis won two of the three major prizes awarded at the final of this year’s Nottingham Young Musician of the Year competition on January 21.

Soprano Evie's vocal range won her the singing category while Joshua excelled in the instrumental competition and took home the special Bluecoat Singers prize as well as being named Young Brass Player of the Year.

The adjudicator, professional singer Marcus Farnsworth, commented how much he was moved by Evie’s performance and praised the open-heartedness of Joshua’s playing throughout his programme.
