Uppingham firefighters host ‘have a go’ day to attract new recruits

Firefighters are hosting a “have a go” day in the hope of attracting new recruits.

The Uppingham fire crew will host three sessions for those interested in finding out more about the job and whether they have got what it takes.

The sessions will involve a number of physical challenges to assess strength, fitness and aptitude including ladder lifts, casualty evacuation and enclosed spaces.

The 90-minute sessions take place at Uppingham Sports Centre, Leicester Road, on Sunday, July 20 at 9am, 11am and 1.30pm. Places are limited and must be booked online at www.leics-fire.gov.uk/events

Participants must be aged 18 or above. They should wear comfortable clothes and trainers to arrive in and bring thick socks and a water bottle. All other equipment will be provided.
