Rutland village of Wing hosts open gardens event for National Gardens Scheme
Keen gardeners can pick up tips in a village this weekend when a wide variety of gardens open to the public.
Five gardens in the Rutland village of Wing will open for the National Garden Scheme on Sunday (June 23) from 2pm to 6pm.
Sol House features a new contemporary garden, including mixed borders, meadow and woodland walk, while Townsend House offers the more tradition - a cottage garden of roses and herbaceous borders.
There’s a new pop-up garden at the Stone House set in more than two acres including extensive views and woodland walks, a small cottage garden at Greystones, in the centre of the village.
And at 16 Church Street a small garden with beautiful views is promised as well as an open artist’s studio.
There will also be a woodlands plants stall at Townsend House, a Lincolnshire Plant Supports stall at Sol House, and homemade teas in the village hall in aid of Wing Church.
Combined entry is £6, and free admission for children, with tickets available at Townsend House opposite the village hall.
National Gardens Scheme raises money for nursing and health charities.
