Rotary Club of Rutland takes vulnerable and disadvantaged children to Wicksteed Park near Kettering

A Rotary club took vulnerable and disadvantaged children on a fun day out.

On Wednesday, June 11, The Rotary Club of Rutland took 32 young people and 15 staff and helpers to Wicksteed Park in Kettering to join the 1070 District Rotary Children’s Fun Day. The aim of the day is to provide positive experiences for some of the UK's most vulnerable and disadvantaged children and is supported by children’s charity Kinds In Mind, which offers mental health and wellbeing support for children escaping domestic violence.

Rutland Youth chairman Gail Griffin thanked all those Rotarians and friends who were involved, from those who pitched and dismantled the club’s new new tent to all those who provided sandwiches and cakes for the lunch time picnic. She added: “We are particularly grateful to Tesco’s in Oakham for their support and their generous donation of fresh fruit and crisps.

“We look forward to supporting this event again next year.”
