Registration for Rutland Ride and Stride opens

Registration for a fund-raising event aimed at helping to preserve the county’s historic church buildings is now open.

The Rutland Ride and Stride – held every two years – is set to return to the county on September 13 as part of a nationwide challenge.

Participants are encouraged to visit as many churches as possible using their chosen mode of transport – including walking, cycling or even horse riding.

However, all forms of transport are welcome, from unicycles to three-legged pairs.

Funds raised will go towards the participant’s nominated church and the Rutland Historic Churches Preservation Trust.

Certificates will be awarded to all cyclists who visit 35 or more churches and all walkers who visit 15 or more.

There will also be a prize for the quirkiest mode of transport.

In 2023, more than £20,000 was raised.
