Anglian Water reopens Sykes Lane beach at Rutland Water as improvement works finishes early
There was good news for sun worshippers and sandcastle builders as a beach reopened this morning (Wednesday) ahead of schedule.
Anglian Water apologised on Monday for closing the man-made beach at Rutland Water on Tuesday and Wednesday so 200 tons of fresh sand could be delivered and laid.
But this morning it was confirmed that work had finished ahead of schedule.
“We managed to get our sand in super early this morning and our wonderful team has just finished laying it,” read a Facebook post.
“We are back open as of now.”
Anglian Water apologised that the work at Sykes Lane had taken place during the school holidays and a heatwave.
It explained that the work had been delayed because the wet spring had led to high water levels in the reservoir and not enough shoreline space to make the beach.
