Rutland Water to host New year’s Day Dip

Are you brave enough to welcome in the new year with an open-water dip?

Hundreds of people are expected to visit Rutland Water for the return of its New Year’s Day event at Whitwell Harbour.

About 250 people took part this year.

Anglian Water’s events manager Angela Lines said: “We’re really pleased to be running this event again following the success in 2024. What a memorable way to bring in the new year by taking a dip at Whitwell Harbour - not only for participants but also for spectators, as hundreds of people take the plunge on a chilly winter morning.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming hundreds of swimmers to our park in January. Wetsuits are highly recommended and fancy dress is welcome.”

The event takes place on Wednesday, January 1 with registration from 9.30am. The dip starts at 11am and lasts for an hour. Entry is £8 which includes a hot drink and places must be booked by December 28 at tinyurl.com/newyeardip

The event is open to over 16s but under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
