Man dies after falling ill in Stamford Road, Oakham




A man has died after falling ill in a town street on Thursday.

Leicestershire Police said at around 11.40am, officers on patrol in Oakham became aware of a man who had been taken ill in the street in Stamford Road.

The air ambulance attended the incident and the road remained closed for much of the day.

“Colleagues from East Midlands Ambulance Service arrived shortly after, and despite their best efforts the man was pronounced deceased a short time later,”said a Leicestershire Police spokesperson.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the HM Coroner.

“Identification of the deceased is a matter for the coroner.”
