Oakham mayor sells gazebo to town council
A councillor will donate all the money he has received from the sale of a gazebo to charity.
Coun Adam Lowe, who is mayor of Oakham, has sold his gazebo to Oakham Town Council for £250.
At the meeting of the full council yesterday (Wednesday, July 10) the heavy-duty gazebo, which is 3m x 4m x 5m, was offered on a first refusal basis to the council for their use.
Members decided that an appropriate and fair price for the gazebo would be £250. A similar new example would cost £589.
Coun Lowe, in accepting the council’s offer, announced: “All the money will be going to two of my mayoral charities.”
