Uppingham mental health cafe gets off to a busy start

People who run a mental health cafe have been overwhelmed by the level of interest during the first two months.

Uppingham’s mental health cafe opened at the town hall in mid-June following the success of a scheme in Oakham.

The weekly sessions offer a place for people to drop-in and chat with experienced listeners.

A spokesperson said: “It is hard to believe it’s two months since we opened our new mental health cafe. We have been overwhelmed by the wonderful reception from the Uppingham and Rutland communities. The support has been truly heartwarming.

“We are busier than ever thanks to local referrals and recommendations. Your enthusiasm keeps us motivated and we are thrilled to be part of such an engaging community.”

The Uppingham cafe runs on Fridays between 1pm and 4pm at the town hall in High Street East. The sessions in Oakham run on Thursday evenings from 5.30pm until 8.30pm at Pepper’s in High Street
