New Miss Rutland Alexandra Mount made one of her first major public appearances at Rutland County Show on Sunday.

Alexandra, 21, who lives in Uffington, was invited to attend the show after winning the title from 25 other hopefuls at an event in Oakham last month.

Alexandra, who works as an estate agent in Stamford, is now looking forward to competing in the Miss Great Britain finals in Leicester in September.

It will be Alexandra’s second appearance in the grand final, having also taken part after winning the Miss Lincolnshire title in 2015.

It was Alexandra’s second appearance in the Miss Rutland competition. She finished runner-up last year, but went one better this time after impressing judges with her personality, appearance and plans to raise money for charity.

She said she was encouraged by friends to take part in her first beauty pageant in 2013.

She said: “You meet lovely people and I have become friends with girls from all over the country. We become almost like sisters.

“I was ecstatic when I was announced as Miss Rutland and I am really looking forward to representing the county at events in the community. I have already attended the county show and a couple of schools.

“I am so grateful to my sponsor Anna Couture Boutique in Stamford. I couldn’t do this without her.”
