Global Birdfair to take place at Lyndon Top near Rutland Water
Event organisers hope to plough £100,000 into an ocean project with the proceeds from this year’s Global Birdfair.
The three-day event will bring thousands of visitors to Rutland for a celebration of birdlife and wildlife.
Around 300 exhibitors will travel from 65 countries to showcase how their communities are helping to safeguard their local wildlife and habitats.
Familiar faces from the world of nature will also be appearing across four stages during the weekend including Simon King, Nigel Marven, Mike Dilger, Megan McCubbin, David Lindo, Nick Baker and Robert Fuller.
The Global Birdfair also offers a packed programme of talks and debates in the Young Conservationists Hub for the next generation of wildlife experts and a Discovery Zone for the youngest visitors. There will also be plenty of opportuniites to shop with stalls selling binoculars, telescopes, thermal imaging equipment and cameras.

The event takes place at Lyndon Top on the north side of Rutland Water from Friday, July 11 until Sunday, July. Day, weekend, camping and glamping tickets are available online at www.globalbirdfair.org starting at £18. Discounted family tickets are available for Sunday only priced £25 for two adults and up to four children.
This year the fair is supporting a project called Safeguarding Ocean Species to protect iconic birds such as the albatross. Organiser Tim Appleton hopes to raise £100,000 towards the project.
