Brooke Road in Oakham reopens to pedestrians for two hours each weekday
A road which has been closed since July will open to pedestrians for two hours each day from today (Monday, November 4).
Brooke Road in Oakham has been closed to vehicles and pedestrians during construction work at the former allotment site.
It had been due to open last month but delays to the Burmor Construction project have put this back to November 30.
From today the road will open for pedestrians only between 8am and 9am and 3pm to 4pm on weekdays. It will be marshalled by staff from Burmor Construction and is intended to help people walking to school.
Forty new homes are being built on the Allotment Gardens development but traders in Oakham have reported a huge drop in trade since the road was first closed.
