Rutland Youth Choir and Uppingham actor Henry Dawe team up to produce a song for Rutland

An actor and a choir have joined forces to create a song and video dedicated to their home county.

The Rutland song will be promoted by the tourism team at Discover Rutland to showcase everything the county has to offer.

High Sheriff of Rutland Richard Cole first floated the idea to Uppingham actor Henry Dawe and it has now flourished to become a collaboration with the Rutland Youth Choir.

Henry, who has previously written tributes to Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip, said: “We saw the potential for this to be a music video rather than purely a song to listen to. In this way we could include scenes from many locations which would showcase Rutland and everything that it has to offer as a tourist destination.

“The project has developed from the original idea and I am pleased that Discover Rutland has kindly agreed to promote the video online. We hope that it will do lasting good for the county.”

To raise money for the project Henry will host two stage shows at Uppingham Theatre next month. Cheer Upp will offer an evening of radio-style entertainment with solo patter and sketches from a number of performers.

The shows will take place on Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25. Admission is free but cash donations towards the project will be accepted on the night.

Free tickets are available from Oakham Wines, The Falcon Hotel in Uppingham and online at www.wegotttickets.com
