Rutland Calendar 2025 will be Richard Adams’ last

A photographic calendar highlighting delightful scenes through the seasons is out now - for the final time.

Richard Adams began using photos of Rutland to produce a calendar 25 years ago, but his 2025 edition will be his last.

Explaining the decision, Richard, who lives in Oakham, said: “Rising production costs coupled with a drop in demand for traditional calendars means, with regret that this, the 25th county calendar I have produced will be the last.

“It was in 2000 that I first produced a Rutland Calendar. Initially this was in cooperation with the then Rutland Tourism Association as a promotional tool for the county. After a few years it became a fundraising project for local charities, which over the time since then has raised money for a number of local projects.

“Most recently all the profits made have been given to the Rutland Historic Churches Preservation Trust, of which I was a trustee for many years.

“I have a great love of Rutland’s wonderful heritage of churches and chapels which not only provide places of worship for in many instances declining congregations, but also bring pleasure to residents and visitors alike.

“Inevitably the repair and maintenance costs of these ancient building are high and the trust offers grant aid to support the works involved.”

The 2025 calendar includes a range of images intended to show how the county lives up to its motto of Multum in Parvo - ‘Much in Little’.

This year’s includes a photo of the new statue of Queen Elizabeth II which was unveiled at Oakham Library in April, and the subsequent visit of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, to seasonal shots of landscapes and buildings, including churches.

Copies of the calendar priced £7.99 are available from Walkers bookshops in Oakham High Street and Stamford High Street, and at village and community shops and post offices throughout Rutland.
