Oakham in Bloom prepares to launch springtime Oakham Daffodil Trail

With the promise of spring just around the corner, a town trail has been launched to show off the season’s blooms.

Oakham in Bloom has been busy distributing the Oakham Daffodil Trail leaflets to entice visitors to the town and take part.

The leaflets will be available at information points around Rutland Water, in locations around the town and at nearby garden centres.

The trail begins at Braunston Road and finishes at the Rutland Showground, and can be done by car or for those who fancy a fairly long walk.

Around 10,000 spring bulbs have been planted by Oakham in Bloom, Oakham Town Council and residents, all donated via the proceeds of fundraising garage sales or by residents.

Joyce Lucas is still taking donations of English bluebells and snowdrops at the green. Call her on 01572 755718 or drop them off at 15 Lonsdale Way, Oakham.
