People are building links with a German community through a revived twinning programme.

Residents from Barmstedt recently spent four days in Rutland following a campaign to boost interest in the Oakham and District Twinning Association.

Their activities included a welcome meal with host families, a visit to Rockingham Castle, dinner in Uppingham, visits to Oakham Castle and Rutland County Museum and a drinks party at The George Hotel in Oakham.
