Leicestershire League cricket round-up
A superb spell of bowling from Charlie Baker helped Oakham to victory in the Leicestershire League on Saturday.
Baker produced a sensational six-over spell of 4-6 which featured three maidens as the Rutland side dismissed visiting Kibworth for 97 in the Premier Division clash at the Lime Kilns.
Shaun Morris also returned 3-30 from his six overs while Ed Siddle struck twice in his five overs with 2-24.
Will Begy then blasted 11 boundaries in a 42-ball half-century as Oakham wrapped up the win inside 14 overs.
Mark Cox was in fine form with both bat and ball as Uppingham Town beat Electricity Sports by five wickets in Division One.
Cox took 2-25 from his eight overs while Scott Green returned 3-33 with Toby Rees and Thomas Welch both claiming two wickets each as Sports were bowled out for 155.
Cox led the Uppingham reply with 64 while Hayden Brough made 48 as Town wrapped up the win in the 34th over.
Oakham 2nds were beaten by eight wickets in their Division Four East clash at Birstall Village.
Henry Stephenson scored an unbeaten 56 while Harry Gilman made 31 as Oakham totalled 198-8 from their 45 overs.
However, Birstall passed their target with a third of their allocation still intact to leave Oakham in the bottom two with two matches of the season remaining.
Uppingham 2nds have dropped down to fourth spot in Division Six East after a 28-run home loss to LCS Cricket Academy.
Harry Cox took five wickets as their visitors were bowled out for 196 and then top-scored with 47 as Town closed their 40 overs on 168-8.
Market Overton remain second-from-bottom of the table after losing by 77 runs against Birstall Village 2nds.
Joe Peveritt picked up four wickets while Nathan Adams took three as Birstall were bowled out for 232.
However, Marko only made 155 in reply despite Peveritt producing the top score of 77.
Wakerley & Barrowden suffered a 91-run away reversal at Bharat Sports 3rds in Division Seven East.
Matt Walker claimed three wickets as Barrowden restricted their hosts to 196-8 from 40 overs but they were bowled out for 105 in reply despite opener Chris White making 40.
Oakham 3rds completed their Division Eight East campaign with a nine-wicket away loss at Asian Sports 4ths.
Wayne Corbett top-scored with 94 while Darran Jones made 55 as Oakham posted 210-6 from their 40 overs.
Thomas Stuart-Jones made the only breakthrough as their hosts triumphed inside 28 overs to leave Oakham second-from-bottom of the final table.
Uppingham 3rds conceded their last game of the Division Nine East season at Fleckney Village.
They finished seventh in the eight-team division with Market Overton 2nds at the foot of the table.
