Uppingham Town beat Crowland Town in the Peterborough League Premier Division

A last minute goal from Johan Coughlin saw Uppingham Town end the 100 percent home record of Crowland in Saturday's feisty Peterborough League Premier Division clash.

Coughlan struck late on as Crowland's six-match winning run at their Snowden Field ground was ended after a 3-2 triumph for Town.

Callum O'Berg and Sam Blackwell were also on target for Uppingham in a match where the hosts finished with nine men and Town also had frontman Rob Forster sent off.

Town started well and O'Berg had a good shot from the edge of the box smothered by the home goalkeeper.

They then took a 20th minute lead as Josh Porter sent Forster away down the right and his cross was turned in by O'Berg at the back post.

However, Crowland had restored parity by half-time as Archie Rickards went on a mazy run and his cross was turned into his own net by Town defender Danny Sheehan.

Uppingham came close to restoring their lead after the break when Porter saw a looping shot headed off the line.

Town then fell behind on the hour mark as a long ball forward was punched clear by goalkeeper Tom Hubbard who was then flattered by a home forward with the ball falling to Rickards who drove into the net from the edge of the box.

Both sides were then reduced to 10 men with 20 minutes remaining after an altercation between Forster and Crowland's Matt Smith.

But it was Town who finished the stronger of the two sides and they equalised with five minutes remaining as Jordan Neil went on a great run, riding two tackles, before cutting the ball back from the byline for Blackwell to finish well.

Town now had the momentum and their winning goal arrived in the 90th minute as Coughlan was sent down the left by Cam Cleaver's pass.

The Uppingham teenager used his pace to cut across and go one-on-one with the goalkeeper before slotting home at the near post.

Crowland were then reduced to nine men when Harry Tidswell was sent off for violent conduct after an eventful afternoon.

Uppingham manager Paul Sheehan said: "It was a really good result in difficult conditions.

"Crowland away is always a tough place to go but, to a man, we stood up to the task.

"We felt hard done by with the second goal as it looked like a clear foul on Tom but we got on with it and dragged ourselves back into the game.

"It was a really good finish by Johan to win it and that's two winning goals in the last three games for him.

"It was an important three points as we have played more games than everyone else because, if we are all on equal games and the other teams win their matches in hand, we are sixth in the league not top."

Uppingham have a home match with Wittering Premiair on Saturday.
