Leicestershire Cricket League round-up





Uppingham Town were celebrating a super Saturday after a hat-trick of Leicestershire League victories at the weekend.

The first team beat Ibstock Town in Division One while the seconds sunk Shree Sanatan in Division Six East.

The third team rounded off the victory treble by returning victorious from their trip to Rothley Park in Division Nine East.

Jamie Dumford and Hayden Brough were the architects of a successful run chase for the first team in their five-wicket away win.

Ibstock had been bowled out for 240 after batting first with Ryan Sheehan taking an impressive four-wicket haul for Town.

Dumford and Brough then put on a match-winning partnership of 142 with innings' of 83 and 88 respectively as Town triumphed with more than three overs to spare.

Ben Harford and Harry Cox had been the in-form batsmen for the second team in their 37-run victory at Castle Hill.

Harford hit 112 while Cox made 73 as Town totalled 239-5 from their 40 overs before restricting Shree Sanatan to 202-9.

Freddy Williamson took 4-36 for Town while Harry Wade and Harvey Stafford both claimed two wickets each.

Phil James was the top scorer for the third team as he scored 66 while Sadiq Mohiuddin made 35 and Andy Cross was unbeaten on 31 as they posted 196-4.

Will Rossiter then led the Town attack with 4-40 while Jack James and Alex Woods took two wickets each as Rothley were bowled out for 159 in reply.

Oakham recorded their first victory of the Premier Division campaign after a 21-run home success over Langtons.

Steve Flowers made 43 and Charles Gill added 34 as Oakham were dismissed for 182 after batting first at the Lime Kilns.

Shaun Morris then took a superb 6-63 from his 10 over spell while Cameron Flowers also struck twice as Langtons were bowled out for 161.

Oakham's second team lost by four wickets in their Division Four East match at Electricity Sports.

Ben Southern top-scored with 65 while Mark Worthington made 40 and Luke Westen was unbeaten on 47 at the close as Oakham made 210-7 from their 45 overs.

Thomas Parry picked up a couple of wickets in the Sports reply but the home side passed their target in the 41st over.

A century from Joe Peveritt was the highlight of Market Overton's 88-run loss to Blaby in Division Six East.

The visitors had their own centurion in Nick Doyle who made an unbeaten 103 as Blaby racked up 312-4 from their 40 overs after batting first.

Peveritt then plundered 15 fours and a six in his 109 as Marko were bowled out for 224 in reply.

Wakerley and Barrowden made it four wins out of four following their promotion to Division Seven East.

They had been bowled out for 116 by Spa with James Gibbs (28) and Peter Vernon (23) the leading run-makers for the Rutland side.

Matt Walker then produced a superb spell of 3-7 from four overs after Chris White had taken 3-20 as Spa were shot out for 103 in reply.

Oakham's third team lost a close Division Eight East contest by 16 runs at Leicester Foxes who made 164-7 after batting first.

Kiru Annathurai took three wickets for Oakham and then made 30 while Graeme North added 37 as the Rutland side were dismissed for 148 in reply.
