Hemingby artist calls for community to help create mural for new National Trust Sandilands nature reserve in Mablethorpe
A Lincolnshire artist is calling for the community to help with her next big project.
Rebecca Harrison’s artwork, titled ‘A Year with Badger and a Boy,’ will appear at the nature reserve in Sandilands and she wants those in the area to work with her to make it happen.
Following a journey through the changing seasons, the piece will feature some of the wildlife that visitors may encounter.
The site is currently being transformed by the National Trust in partnership with the Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park to create new habitats for a variety of wildlife.
Rebecca held workshops with children last month and will be hosting more sessions in Mablethorpe next week.
"Creating this mural for the National Trust at Sandilands is a really meaningful project for me,” she said.
“Sandilands holds a special place in my heart, with memories spanning generations in our family—from beach hut days with my grandparents to summer birthdays by the sea.”
The artist says she aims to celebrate the rich wildlife and spirit of Sandilands, through the curious mind of a boy and a badger.
“I’m also excited to invite the community to join me in this journey with workshops throughout the project,” she added.
The next workshops will be held at the Coastal Information Centre in Mablethorpe tomorrow from 10am-2pm, and at Mablethorpe Library at the same time of day next week on Wednesday, December 11.
