Fine for Skegness man who ‘wasn’t in a fit state to pull up his trousers’
A man who ‘wasn’t in a fit state’ to pull up his own trousers in the middle of the afternoon pleaded guilty to a charge of being drunk and disorderly.
Police were called to public toilets at Skegness Road, Ingoldmells after reports of damage.
There they found 54-year-old Barry James Wright.
“The offence occurred at 2.45pm on November 8,” prosecutor Turan Sunat told Boston Magistrates’ court on Wednesday.
“PC Hanson responded to a call of people shouting and causing criminal damage to a public convenience.
“When she arrived she found the defendant with his trousers down. He admitted to having a drink.
“The defendant said he wasn’t in a fit state to pull up his trousers.”
Wright began to make threats of self harm, including ‘hitting his head on the tiles’ inside the toilet block before swearing at the officer, Mr Sunat added.
District Judge Peter Veits heard Wright - of no fixed abode but living in the Skegness area - was in breach of a six-month conditional discharge, which was dished out in July for a separate drunk and disorderly charge.
Defending Wright, Tony Freitas explained his client was a ‘chap who had suffered alcohol issues for a number of years’.
“He was in Lincoln and didn’t get help over there so he relocated to this part of the county,” he added.
“Here East Lindsey District Council and Outreach have been offering him support.
“He knows what he did was wrong.”
Judge Veitas told Wright ‘the court gave you a chance with the conditional discharge in July’.
The defendant was fined £80 for the incident and a further £80 for the offence in July.
He must also pay £85 costs and the £64 victim surcharge.
