Wainfleet St Mary man drank beer and vodka before ‘shouting and screaming’ in street
A man says he is seeking help for a drink problem after ‘shouting and screaming’ in a public place and attempting to get into a car which was carrying small children.
Zane James Wild had drunk vodka and beer before the incident, which took place at Drummond Road in Skegness on November 11.
“Police responded to reports of a man kicking and banging on doors and shouting and screaming,” prosecutor Turam Sunat told the court.
“A member of the public reported the man tried to get into his car and that scared his children.
“He had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet and shouting constantly.”
When asked to calm down, Wild swore at police and said he didn’t care if they arrested him, Mr Sunat continued.
In police interview, Wild told officers he had drunk ‘four pints’ before turning to vodka.
Defending himself, Wild said he has since sought help from a drink and drugs charity.
“I realise I’ve got a drink problem,” he said when he appeared at Boston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
“I’ve reached out to We Are With You and I’m waiting for a call.”
Twenty-seven-year-old Wild, of Queens Estate, Wainfleet St Mary, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.
The defendant, who is receiving benefits after agency work as a labourer recently came to an end, was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs and the £32 victim surcharge.
