Spilsby man threatened to ‘petrol bomb’ friend he ‘wanted to be in relationship with’




A man threatened to ‘petrol bomb’ a friend who didn’t want to enter into a relationship with him, a court was told.

Nathan Ellerby, 25, also made references to being ‘tooled up’ and ‘watching your house’ in messages sent to a phone belonging to the mother of his intended victim, Boston Magistrates heard.

Ellerby, of St James Walk, Spilsby, pleaded guilty to sending threatening communications and a further charge of cannabis possession on Wednesday.

Prosecutor Lottie Tyler said the Ellerby had turned up at the victim’s home at 1pm on August 5, acting in an ‘aggressive’ manner.

“He ran off but half an hour later the victim received messages on the mother’s phone from the defendant.

“One said ‘say bye to your mum and nan, they’re next’.”

Ms Tyler added other messages made references to a ‘petrol bomb, being tooled up and watching the house’.

“The victim has never been in a relationship with the defendant but did consider him a friend,” Ms Tyler added,

“She felt he wanted to be in a relationship with her and felt that’s why he was sending the messages.

“They knew each other for about one year.”

The court heard that Ellerby was found to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis when arrested for this offence on September 10.

Defending Ellerby, Saleem Khan said his client suffers from ADHD and is ‘under care for psychosis’.

Sentencing was adjourned until November 25 for a full report to be prepared.

Ellerby was released on bail with a condition thjat he does not contact the complainant.
